Community Outreach @ LSA

At LSA we are training young people from all backgrounds in behind the camera skills, and we want to be able to reach as many young people across London as possible. We do this by supporting secondary schools and community groups with their careers services and provisions for young people, as well as running our activities during the summer and half term.

If you would like us to come in and speak to your students about the world of film and TV or would like us to support the activity you are running with young people, please get in touch; we would love to hear from you!

Check out the range of activities we have done this academic year 2020/21.

School and community group talks and visits

We deliver virtual and in-person talks to schools and community groups about the vast opportunities and careers within the film and TV industry, and how LSA is a place to start a young person's journey into the screen industries.

We also host schools and community group visits, and we had the pleasure of inviting young people into our building.

A very insightful engaging experience for our young people. This has given them an insight into industry they might not otherwise have done.
— Ms Williams (Beacon High School)
It was a great visit; the kids were very inspired

Summerversity LSA: Get Behind The Camera - in partnership with Islington council

Not only do we deliver talks and visits but we also run a range of activities outside of term time. We previously took part in Islington Summerversity where we ran a week of free film and TV workshops for young people who live or study in Islington.

Community Group Screenings

We open our doors to community groups that would like to use our A Stage to watch their finished film projects. We had the pleasure of hosting Haringey Shed as they screened their short film (made in four days) and we supported the final day of the St Mary’s Youth Film Festival where the young people watched a range of films made by young people for the Islington community (awaiting photo from the youth group).

LSA Film and Media Saturday Club

Our Saturday Club gives young people the opportunity to explore the breadth of the film and TV industry as they learn the process of filmmaking from script to screen. Over one academic year students will develop technical skills across camera work, editing, sound, and lighting, as well as key transferable skills, such as creative problem-solving, production, communication and teamwork.
