ABOUT LSA
Why do we exist?
There are a range of skills shortages across the screen industries in the UK. Industry leaders have said that there are not enough sufficiently skilled young people entering the industry and courses at Level 3 and above aren’t preparing young people for careers in the industry. Furthermore, the industry workforce does not reflect the diversity of the UK in ethnicity, gender, and income background. In production, just 3% of employees are from an underrepresented ethnic group, compared to 12.5% nationally.
LSA was founded to address both the skills shortage and the lack of diversity in the industry by providing hands-on, industry-relevant training. Our focus is to prepare our young people to be ‘set ready’ by working closely with industry to ensure our curriculum is the most relevant that it can be. Our curriculum is enhanced by additional qualifications - Maths or English at A Level, Core Maths or EPQ (both worth half an A Level) - providing students with additional skills to broaden their knowledge and education.
