Curriculum Development
We design our curriculum from the ground up, reimagining creative education. Our first step is to work with industry to identify the knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) relevant to the screen industries. For example, our Technical students need to be able to operate a radio mic, our Post Production students need to be able to edit a montage, and all of our students need the confidence to promote their work with pride and humility.
Once we have identified the KSBs needed, we generate ideas for exciting, collaborative and industry-relevant projects, many with industry involvement either in brief setting, critique or as an audience for student work. When we have the best ideas, we develop these projects through a ‘tuning’ process developing them into fully formed projects with clear briefs.
We then deliver these projects to our students, resulting in amazing student work! Throughout their journey, our students are supported in their personal and professional development. Weekly film screenings and masterclasses are compulsory and we have further dedicated programmes to help our students develop their professional skills.
The final stage of our curriculum development process comes in our reflection meetings after a project has been delivered. Here, we invite specialist members of our industry panel to join us in looking at student work from the project and discussing how successful each project has been in ensuring student growth towards industry quality outcomes.
