We are excited to announce that we will be running a Film and Media Saturday Club in the autumn for 13 - 16 year olds. The LSA Film and Media Saturday club is part of the National Saturday Club Trust network.

Our Saturday Club will give young people the opportunity to explore the breadth of the film and TV industry as they learn the process of filmmaking from script to screen. Over one academic year students will develop technical skills across camera work, editing, sound, and lighting, as well as key transferable skills, such as creative problem-solving, production, communication and teamwork.

There are many communities that have traditionally been under-represented in the screen industries; the LSA Film and Media Saturday Club aims to widen participation for young people of all backgrounds. It is imperative that this free opportunity reaches those who may face additional barriers to success.

We are so proud to set up the Film and Media Saturday Club at LSA; young people have a limited exposure to the Arts within the national curriculum. At LSA, we have been inundated with interest in our course from young people of all ages and we are thrilled to be able to offer a workshop on Saturdays for those very students, in collaboration with the National Saturday Club.

We hope that our resources and the training we provide will inspire our Club members to explore career prospects within the creative industries as well as post-16 courses for the Arts.
— Sam Summerson, Vice Principal

In keeping with the National Saturday Club Trust, students who join the Film + Media Saturday Club at LSA will have the opportunity to join the annual London Visit, hear from a wide range of industry professionals during Masterclasses and have their work shown publicly in the Summer Showcase.

The Saturday Club is a fantastic opportunity to reach and train a younger age group so they have the chance to know and learn skills for the Film and TV industry. There are many communities that are underrepresented in the screen industries and this really is a great programme to reach and engage with these young people from all backgrounds.
